1911: Albert Cashier is moved to Soldier and Sailors Home in Quincy, Illinois

1971: Andy Warhol’s play Pork opens at the La Mama Experimental Theater in New York City. 

1972: GAA-NY demonstrations at home of district attorney (75-100 participants).

1972: Gay Pride Week rally at Lafayette Park in Washington, D.C. (50-180 participants).

1973: Radical Woman and GLF-Seattle demonstration at home of Seattle police chief (60 participants).

1974: GAA-New Jersey “Hold Hands” unity demonstration at Statue of Liberty (400 participants)

1974: The Community Homophile Association of Newfoundland (CHAN) is formed becoming the first gay organization in the province.

1975: GAA-NY rally at City Hall Park in support of local gay rights bill (30 participants).

1979: In Saskatoon, the Saskatchewan Division of Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) at annual convention supports legislation banning discrimination on basis of sexual orientation.

1981: After customs officials at New York’s JFK Airport find a gay love letter in his luggage, British traveler Phillip Fotheringham is denied entry into the United States and forced to return home on the next flight back to London.

1983: Wisconsin becomes the twenty-seventh state to legalize homosexual acts between consenting adults.

1987: A Michigan appellate court, while upholding the constitutionality of the state’s gross indecency law as applied to consensual acts in private, nevertheless overturns the conviction of a man for acts in a restroom due to overhead surveillance.

1993:  The Hawaii Supreme Court rules that denying marriage to same-sex couples violates the Equal Protection Clause of the State Constitution.

1994: The Metro Weekly debuts. 

1994: First Deaf Lesbian & Gay Awareness Week.

2009: New Hampshire passes same-sex marriage bill by Senate and House.

2009: The Swedish Parliament was presented with legislation that would allow Gay couples to marry in civil ceremonies or in the Lutheran Church.

2010: A court in Lithuania blocked the parade permit for a weekend gay pride event in Vilnius

2011: Brazil's Supreme Federal Court votes 10-0 for civil unions with the same legal rights as married couples.

2011: The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) approves a constitutional amendment allowing for the ordination of clergy in same-sex relationships.

2016: Transgender male boxer Patricio “El Cacahuate” Manuel, a Southern California fighter, became the first pro boxer to fight as a man after having fought as a woman.
